This session is for those educators who want to deinstitutionalise their classroom and to offer an inviting, collaborative and engaging environment in the middle and upper primary years.


This session is an introductory presentation of the key elements of Walker Learning in the middle/upper primary years including:

  • The research and philosophy of Walker Learning
  • Setting up the learning environment
  • Planning and documentation
  • Linking to curriculum areas and framework outcomes
  • Class meetings, clinic groups, and communication boards
  • Education research projects and implementation strategies for teams and schools

This session also includes example video footage and photos of key elements of the pedagogy in Years 3-6, from classrooms across Australia.
