The end of term 1

Many teachers I know are breathing a sigh of relief to have some time to relax now that first term has ended. I have been thinking quite a bit about endings. The end of term, the end of day light saving here in Victoria, the end of summer. The past two weeks have been so beautiful in terms of those warm still days, so very autumnal. As with most endings there are also beginnings. The start of the school holidays which most children love so much. The autumn season that does bring such lovely weather, the eastern standard time which brings lighter mornings.
For some people they will be celebrating Easter or Pasach ( the Jewish Passover), both filled with celebrations and lots of food. For others, it may be work as usual. For some, the holidays are just holidays with no religious meaning at all.
I love the diversity of our society. That we can all co exist in such a safe country.
Endings and beginnings all have challenges and opportunities. It’s great to embrace life and to make the most of all opportunities that come our way.
For families and children, the holidays can be a mix of fun and frustration.
Check out the news item on how to survive the holidays and for those of you who are lucky enought to have some holidays, enjoy, relax and unwind. I certainly will be trying to.
